We are often asked where to find a reliable Serbian language tutor for both adults and children. This article provides an answer.

You and your children can learn Serbian at a language school or with a private tutor.

Language Schools

Schools/courses in Serbian as a foreign language (srpski jezik za strance) are suitable if you prefer a structured, social, and accredited learning environment. Schools usually offer group offline classes, but some may conduct online classes and individual sessions – be sure to ask. Not all schools teach children.

Here are some popular language schools that teach Serbian in Serbia:

Tutors

Private tutors are a good choice if you value personalized, flexible, and potentially more affordable lessons. However, you will need to ensure the quality of teaching, experience with children, and possibly try lessons with several tutors until you find the right one. Some tutors, in addition to Serbian, offer lessons in math and other school subjects. When teaching schoolchildren, you can ask the tutor to focus on the vocabulary needed for studies (terms from textbooks for the appropriate grade) and even agree on help with homework at the beginning.

Preply offers a choice of more than 100 Serbian language tutors for online lessons on their platform.

The site “My Serbian Language” maintains a small list of tutors for Serbian.

Affordable Serbian lessons can be found on the “Kupujem-prodajem” website (the Serbian equivalent of Avito) in the services section, but keep in mind that most ads are intended for Serbian schoolchildren (exam preparation, etc.).
